1. if reproducibility may be a problem, conduct the test only once.
2. if a straight line fit is required, obtain only two data points.

i agree. all that bullshit about 'obtaining many data points' is for the weak-willed ninnys. true characters will plot freehand, fill in missing data, alter values arbitrarily to get a smooth graph and perform experiments such that a normal loser can only reproduce it with the help of a beer or four.
