Fundamentals

Its been pleasant. A new day.

I cant profess to be wildly addicted to having surprises sprung on me, and up till 2 days ago, I knew my friends were up to something. But reports and deadlines soon edged them to the further recesses of my mind, so much so that when Sh T came up to 'test the water' by wishin me a happy valentines, I absent mindedly wished her back and bantered for a sec or two. I never suspected a thing.

Then suddenly came the songs, the people, well wishes and, by gawd, the cake.

A flurry of activity in my room - dimmed lights, more songs and wishes, camera flashes, candle whisps echoed my wish. We headed to the lounge.

Chats/laughs/gifts/pictures/makin sure everyone ate...

I cant remember the last time I was caked/saboed/splattered. It seemed an awfully long time ago.

They hid the tissue box. I suspect one of them (G) came up with it. Nothing rocket science really. 'Oh try to retrieve that hazlenut from the cake with your tongue'. Naturally I pushed the tray a little further from me and protested.

Sh T didnt get within a gnats crotchet of convincing me. So G lent her a hand. Persuasion indeed. And now there are pictures to remind everyone of a cake splattered me. Im glad at least there wasnt a pool around. Im currently recovering from the effects of cake-up-the-nose and-cake-everywhere.

Friends as these...Im grateful they chase away the drab curtains of grey from life to reveal the colours that adorn the rainbows, to remind me of the colours that still paint the sunrises.

It was a really sweet gesture. It truly was a celebration with a difference and I appreciated it very very much.

A holler out to all the guilty 15ers:
Thank you all! Luv yall to bits =)
